Who else is going? I secured a press pass this year, which means I should be able to get some decent video and pictures. I'll be Hammonding my WRX Wagon into the most mobile campsite…in the world, so I can stay light on my feet.
I'm heading out early on Friday morning to gobble up the 4 hour trip to Salem from KC before anybody else gets up (and so I can make it to the media registration).
Will I see any of you intrepid Opponauts amongst the dusted, frenzied crowds?

Give me a bit and I can put together some potential hot spots for shooting.

I mayyyyyy be up there. I'm in Utah at the moment for work, and depending on how these hardware conversions go I may or may not be home in time.

Sounds good! I'm not sure how exactly this is going to go. Ananda said since this will be my first RA press experience, I'll need to be accompanied by "someone experienced in stage operations." So I think I might be a little restricted. But I'll take what I can get!

How did you manage a press pass? I attended once, a few years ago, and was pretty disappointed with how limited the spectator areas were...

The two obvious points are the cattle guard jump on Camelback and the first water crossing on Loop Southern Short. The third splash on Loop Southern is actually a rougher splash, and while you don't get the pretty spray of water as the car glides across the crossing you're prone to get some brutal bouncing and splashing (and possibly a detached bumper or two). Camelback also has a bunch of high speed corners with good sight lines from about 2 miles to 5 miles. The fast drivers should be pretty spectacular through there (of course if conditions are good they'll be spectacular everywhere). The first cattle guard on Camelback's not to shabby, it's a rough jump over a L3 corner, only the fast (brave) guys'll jump it, but they could make it worthwhile. And there's two subsequent jumps just after the big cattle guard jump. The first one's not much but the second one could produce some decent air for anyone who keeps their foot in it.

Nice. Camelback is definitely on my agenda.
